Ayşe Gül Sofuoğlu, MD, OB-GYN
Ayşe Gül Sofuoğlu, MD, OB-GYN completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in Istanbul. She graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1988. Between 1990 and 1992, she worked as an observer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Mary’s Hospital, University of Manchester.

She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Süleymaniye Maternity Hospital in 1998. To provide more accurate psychological support to her patients, she successfully completed a three-year Integrative Psychotherapy training program at the Darıca Psychotherapy Institute between 2016 and 2019 under the supervision of Dr. Tahir Özakkaş.

When should a doctor be consulted during pregnancy?
A doctor should be consulted without delay in cases of bleeding, severe abdominal pain, intense nausea and vomiting, reduced fetal movement, high fever, fluid leakage, or regular contractions during pregnancy. These symptoms may require prompt medical evaluation.

What causes menstrual irregularity?
Menstrual irregularity may be caused by hormonal changes, stress, polycystic ovary syndrome, thyroid problems, weight changes, or ovarian cysts. If the irregularity continues, a gynecological evaluation should be performed to determine the underlying cause.
